Home for Life had the opportunity to purchase a cold laser, used as a demonstration model by the manufacturer, thus reducing the purchase price by several thousand dollars. Cold laser is a type of non-invasive therapy that has many benefits - helping bring relief to arthritic joints, helping wounds heal more quickly (the laser promotes blood flow and cell turnover for faster healing!) and bringing healing and pain relief to areas of an animal's body traumatized by accidents such as surviving being hit by a car and surgery. Although the laser was expensive to purchase, when factored over the number of animals at the sanctuary the therapy can help over the next many years, and the veterinary costs it will save in terms of medicine not needed and surgeries spared, it will be a cost-saving way to help our animals. In addition, we are able to use the laser on our animals while keeping them at the sanctuary as our trained vet tech and students are able to administer the treatments, reducing the stress of transport and a vet clinic visit for the animals. Keeping our older animals mobile as long as possible reduces staff workload, and improves the quality of life for the dogs and cats.

We have raised about $3500 of the $23,000 needed for the purchase of the Cold Laser.
