Malcolm

Malcolm is a black and tan neutered wire hair dachshund who is now approximately 8 years old. He was surrendered to Home for Life when age 3 because he would not accept the husband in the home he was in and allegedly would try to bite him if approached. Malcolm had been rescued by his adoptive home and was reported to have originally come from a puppy mill.

Carbon

Carbon, at the Soi Dog Foundation in Thailand.

Carbon was named for the steel grey color of fur. He was a stray street dog, found in Bangkok, Thailand, believed to be about three years old.

Cedar

Cedar is a recent addition to Home for Life's FIV+ cattery. He was named after a supporter’s Shepard dog who was lost in the mountains last year. Our Cedar is the same beautiful burnished copper color. His original name was “Moochie” so this name does him more justice.

Snowball

Snowball is a dainty white cat, a spayed female, with soulful yellow eyes and a traumatic past, though she is less than two years old.

Venus

Venus is a beautiful purebred German Shepherd who was born in Iran. In Iran her name is pronounced "Ven-oos" with a short e on the first syllable. She has no ears. In Iran, some people amputate the ears of their dogs, and sometimes their tails, to make them look more formidable, especially if they  intend to use the dogs for guarding or protection.

Rocky -RIP august 2024

Small but mighty,Rocky is a Miniature Pinscher mix who has had a drive - from puppy hood - to protect his family.  He was never trained for this calling - his sense of duty and responsibility is inborn. His former owners had purchased Rocky and his brother as pups. Rocky, as the elder, felt his responsibility and was always protective and assertive.

Snoopy - RIP 10/21

At most rescues or shelters, dogs of different sizes are segregated from each other and often kept in individual kennels. Animals at shelters are in transition and have little opportunity to form bonds of friendship even with animals of their own species and size.
