Sandy, Penny, Yasmin

Above, Sandy is a handsome shepherd mix who came to Home for Life five years ago from the Nevada Humane Society, a well-known no-kill shelter near Reno, Nevada. Sandy was trapped by the Humane Society on a Pueblo Indian reservation as a young stray dog.

Finnegan

Finnegan is a beautiful St. Bernard who came to Home for Life from the Kendall Animal Control facility in Illinois. He was found as a stray, so no one is sure exactly how old he is, but the thought is he is no older than age 5. He was unneutered when taken in at animal control and was very thin, with a dirty and matted coat.

Gidget

This bewitching little cat is Gidget, a three year old brown tabby tiger spayed, who came to Home for Life when she was just one year old along with her little sister Cally, a tiny tortoiseshell and her mother Stella. Cally and Gidget were born to a feral mother, Stella.

Evie - rip 10/21

Although Evie, an Irish Wolfhound/Great Dane mix, is one of the sanctuary's largest dogs, her true size becomes apparent only when she's galloping in the field. At times she could be mistaken for a horse! However, when she's inside her doggie apartment, or out in her fenced yard, her understated aura tends to offset her size. What strikes people first is her gentle and shy demeanor.

Justine

Justine, now age 10, is a deaf black and tan Doberman who came to Home for Life  at age 5 all the way from Pennsylvania. Despite her disability, she is the leader of a group of tightly knit  shy dogs that reside in the main entrance of Home for Life's main dog building. Justine, ever alert, sounds the alarm with her loud bark- all of Home for Life's deaf dogs bark even though they can't hear!

Malcolm

Malcolm is a black and tan neutered wire hair dachshund who is now approximately 8 years old. He was surrendered to Home for Life when age 3 because he would not accept the husband in the home he was in and allegedly would try to bite him if approached. Malcolm had been rescued by his adoptive home and was reported to have originally come from a puppy mill.

Jake

Jake is a smart, alert Rat Terrier, and along with Spiderman, is always one of the first dogs visitors to the sanctuary see as their dog apartment has a long attached  outdoor run that is situated right along the parking lot . He was surrendered by All Breed Dog Rescue of Minnesota  five years ago after he bit a jogger ( who had kicked him!) while at the dog park.
