Arctic Cat

RIP September 2017

With the Polaris Snowmobile plant of Osceola WI, a stone’s throw from the sanctuary we had to have a resident Arctic Cat at Home for Life.

Sammy

Sammy is an adorable young neutered cockapoo. When he came to Home for Life, his coat was very long and unkempt, but once properly groomed, his heritage—a perfect blend of cocker spaniel and poodle—could easily be seen.

Taffy

Our security cameras captured the abandonment in detail but left more questions than answers.  On a hot  & humid day this summer, a nice  and newer vehicle pulled up to  our entrance gate shortly after noon. Out stepped a well-dressed younger man, looking much better groomed than the dirty dog  he held under one of his arms.

Sunshine

Sunshine is blind, most likely from birth, due to optic nerve atrophy. She is a young spayed female, medium-sized with a plush silver tabby coat. Her beautiful green eyes, even though sightless, are expressive in her sweet round face.

Kitchee

A world away, in Jeddah Saudi Arabia, a German Shepherd puppy, just six months old, stood alone in the narrow street. The owners of the house where she was born and lived her whole life, had just put her outside and left her to fend for herself.

Snowbelle (rip 12/22)

Snowbelle came to Home for Life from the Animal Humane Society in Minneapolis, and is a small shepard mix with a cream colored coat. Snowbelle was confiscated by the Animal Humane Society of Minneapolis in the course of a cruelty investigation along with over 24 other dogs. She was just under a year when seized and was surrendered to Home for Life because of her extreme timidity.

Sheila - rip 10/21

Minnesota shelters that helped in Texas after Hurricane Rita returned to the Twin Cities with many lost and abandoned animals, Sheila among them.

In the chaos following the hurricane's aftermath, Sheila lost her home and owner and neither could be restored. She was alone in the world, but thanks to the efforts of the Minnesota shelters, she had a second chance.

Rover

Rover is a husky black neutered male cat with a thick, plush black fur coat. Rover was recovered from a reservation by a South Dakota animal rescue who reported that he was found abandoned at the town dump. Rover was a young adult cat when found, but was blind due to glaucoma. He had large bulging eyeballs that were completely sightless.
