Give to the Max and Una the dog in the grass

Home for Life's Sponsor Happiness campaign, with a $50,000 Match Challenge, features Una: read the story here!

For those of our supporters who like participating in Give to the Max day, that 24 hours of giving is on November 20, 2025.

Give to the MAX DONATE

So every dollar contributed up to $50,000 will be matched, for your gift to do twice as much good for the animals of Home for Life, dogs and cats who might not have a chance without the care we provide.

Dogs Like Una

At Home for Life®, we have witnessed that transformation firsthand in animals like Una. His story shows how compassion and creativity can turn cruelty into renewal.  Una was born a street dog. At just six months old, he was shot in the face in his home country - veterinarians tried to repair his wound but his injuries just became worse.  After reaching Home For Life, Una received care and has become a thriving part of our community. Una’s story proves that compassion and creativity break the cycle of cruelty and indifference to restore a shattered life. Each act of care sets in motion a future that would never otherwise exist. We have seen dogs and cats, once so frightened that they flinch from a touch, learn to trust again; and animals once disfigured by violence discover a new life filled with peace and joy.

Building a Humane Future

The new Home For Life building

Your Give to the Max donation goes to expanding our care, with support for our new shelter building.

Our new building is an extension and expression of the values Home for Life embodies- that of compassion and creativity with which we we approach helping animals. Animal rescue  is not often thought of as creative, but our Third Door model calls for it- to stand in the gap when it could go either way for a a vulnerable cat or dog, and because of the power to care, to envision and create a positive outcome.

This new building will amplify our power to care, aligning our values of creativity and compassion with action to do more good for animals and the people who care about them.

This year, find out how far your heart can reach! As a care-for-life sanctuary, Home for Life® is uniquely positioned to help some of the most vulnerable dogs and cats from around the world. Responsive to both local animals in need as well as international rescue cases, Home for Life® is able to care for cats and dogs who are out of options, providing a service like no other organization.

During the last year, it has seemed as if things are out of control, between politics and the economy. What's more, the chaos has left many feeling helpless and distressed as a result of the apparent inability to create meaningful change. And yet, isn't it true that the most powerful thing we can do is care?

That's where each of us, individually, has the power to influence what happens. Because, for those of us who love animals, we can have an effect and influence the outcome when the fate of a cat or a dog hangs in the balance, and each one of us can make a difference, to set a new direction in motion and to open a doorway to hope and possibility.

Give to the Max day is the chance for each of us to engage in that most powerful act—to Care—however you as an individual express that—whether on behalf of those in need of food shelves, those in need of health care, or like those of us at Home for Life®, those who express our agency, engagement in the greater world and capacity to care on behalf of our beloved animals, especially those who are most vulnerable and in need of help, like those animals we help at Home for Life®.

Home for Life® is participating in this year's Give to the Max day but would like to direct our supporters to our website donation pages where the credit card fees charged are far less than the GiveMN.org portal. This year we  have a matching grant totaling $50,000 and hope to raise this amount both through the Give to the Max campaign as well as our end-of-year fundraising featuring Una!
