Venus
Venus is a beautiful purebred German Shepherd who was born in Iran. In Iran her name is pronounced "Ven-oos" with a short e on the first syllable. She has no ears. In Iran, some people amputate the ears of their dogs, and sometimes their tails, to make them look more formidable, especially if they intend to use the dogs for guarding or protection.

Rocky -RIP august 2024
Small but mighty,Rocky is a Miniature Pinscher mix who has had a drive - from puppy hood - to protect his family. He was never trained for this calling - his sense of duty and responsibility is inborn. His former owners had purchased Rocky and his brother as pups. Rocky, as the elder, felt his responsibility and was always protective and assertive.
Snoopy - RIP 10/21
At most rescues or shelters, dogs of different sizes are segregated from each other and often kept in individual kennels. Animals at shelters are in transition and have little opportunity to form bonds of friendship even with animals of their own species and size.
Diego
Diego, a hound mix, came to Home for Life from a Wisconsin foster-based rescue. They insisted that we take Diego, even though we suggested many other options for possible placement.
Jonathan
Keeping our animals safe and secure is an important part of our mission at Home for Life. Many of our residents come from backgrounds fraught with danger and uncertainty. We want to ensure that they never face those dangers again.
Momo
Momo's story begins in Okinawa, Japan, where he was found by some elementary school children. Just a kitten, Momo was also blind (his name comes from the Japanese word for blind “momokun”). Eventually, animal control was called and Momo was taken to the local pound. There, he would have only days to find a benefactor or face euthanasia by gas chamber.
Roo
Roo is a large terrier mix, who came to us from Alabama at age 4 in 2011 via a Minnesota rescue group who had taken him in but had no adoption prospects for him. Roo almost looks like a jumbo size rat terrier with a clean white short hair coat and black patches, stand up ears, bright alert, dark eyes and a pointed muzzle.
