Ashley the paraplegic Home for Life resident recently earned international fame when her story was picked up by a United Kingdom newspaper called the Daily Mail.

Ashley recently had a photo album telling her story created by our volunteers at Creative Communications. This photo album detailed Ashley's life, from her rough start as a stray puppy who lost the use of her back legs due to a violent attack, to her thriving adulthood at Home for Life. Dale Maycock, a writer for various United Kingdom publications, thought Ashley's story and spirited attitude were inspirational, and decided to feature the photo album and Ashley's story in an article.

Home for Life appreciates the chance to tell the story of our wonderful animals, as well as educate more people on our Third Door policy. Though Ashley lost the use of her legs, Home for Life saw her potential, and didn't want her young life cut short. She now enjoys life with wheels, and plays like any other dog. Ashley can follow her friends through Home for Life's meadows, accepts endless affection from staff members and visitors and can now enjoy life to a ripe old age.
