Fields of Gold: Mark Luinenburg photographs Spring at Home for Life

Longtime volunteer and friend to Home for Life, photographer Mark Luinenburg was at the sanctuary the second week in May, and it turned out to be perfect timing. There are a few weeks each spring at Home for Life where the entire property seems blanketed in gold, dappled in sunshine: an abundance of dandelions cover all the meadows and fenced exercise areas. The " fields of gold" proved to be a perfect backdrop for the happiness of our animals after a long winter. Inside the catteries, the beautiful cats generated their own rays of sunshine  to shine in the photos. Below some of our favorites of Mark's spring shoot. Visiting Home for Life

Home for Life will be open for tours this summer and into the fall. We open for tours the first weekend after Memorial Day and then offer tours all summer long and as late into the fall as weather permits!  We love to have supporters and new friends visit our facility and meet our animals.

The BBC films at Home for Life Animal Sanctuary!

Our big news of this first part of 2017 is that the BBC of Great Britain filmed a feature about Home for Life; producers and their team from the BBC spent nearly a week with us, the week of March 6, filming at the sanctuary as well as accompanying one of our certified therapy dogs, Great Dane Dodi, to the Masonic Children's Hospital for her regular visit with the pediatric patients there.

Snow Days

Kirsten Eitrem of KME Photography spends a snowy afternoon at Home for Life for our sponsor program

Kirsten Eitrem is a photographer whose work we have followed and admired for a long time; she not only takes such beautiful photos which convey the uniqueness and special spirit of each subject, but also has a heart to give back, supporting many of the Twin Cities animal rescues. As she says, "I like to help out all the amazing animal rescues in the area and offer photography services to foster pups looking for their forever home.A good picture can help a dog get adopted!"

Fall Sponsor Photos: Celebrated Portrait Photographers, Rod & Stephanie Oman of The Imagery, support Home for Life!

Stephanie and Rod Oman from The Imagery, a celebrated portrait studio based in Burnsville,Minnestoa were out to Home for Life in late November, and spent the afternoon with us, one of the last nice days of Fall, taking photos of our animals for Home for Life's sponsor program. We cannot thank them enough for their help- our sponsor program is the foundation of support for the care we provide the animals, enabling us to provide steady, dependable care for all the cats and dogs at Home for Life, whether sponsored or not.

Fall at Home for Life!

Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year at Home for Life, and this year has been no exception. This fall has been warm for the season, and our animals have made the most of the great weather and enjoyed spending as much time outdoors as possible. The great weather has also meant we have been able to extend tour season and expect to have visits from supporters through November at least.

YOU can Help the Dogs and Cats of Home for Life! Contributions needed for our new Cold Laser!

Home for Life had the opportunity to purchase a cold laser, used as a demonstration model by the manufacturer, thus reducing the purchase price by several thousand dollars. Cold laser is a type of non-invasive therapy that has many benefits - helping bring relief to arthritic joints, helping wounds heal more quickly (the laser promotes blood flow and cell turnover for faster healing!) and bringing healing and pain relief to areas of an animal's body traumatized by accidents such as surviving being hit by a car and surgery.
