Mimo is a senior standard poodle, age 12, who came to Home for Life® via Pups with Passports, fka Gulf Canine Connection, a rescue founded by an American who was working in the country of Qatar and was moved by the plight of the many neglected and unwanted dogs. Pups with Passports has done a heroic job of working with advocates of Qatar to raise awareness about animal welfare and to find loving and caring homes in the United States for the many street dogs who are in desperate need.

Mimo was a dog in Qatar without prospects for help in that country nor adoption to a new home anywhere else. He had lost his home as a senior dog and ended up in a shelter where stress affected him so much that he developed an autoimmune condition causing him to lose most of his hair. The video tells the tale: https://youtu.be/s8ZTQAolzWQ of how poor Mimo declined from a beautiful and proud Standard Poodle to a sad and despondent shadow of himself. Pups with Passports brought Mimo's case to our attention and asked for help for this special dog who was deteriorating before their eyes.
Mimo arrived all the way from Qatar at Home for Life® the summer of 2017, happy to be with us, but looking pretty ragged. But look at the transformation that has occurred in just a few months! Our groomers started by giving him a puppy poodle cut so he could keep most of his coat for the chilly winter months of the severe winter of 2017-18. And, he finally actually had some coat - with the grooming and more hair, Mimo actually began to look like his spectacular self again. Our veterinarians diagnosed him with seborrhea - special baths, great food and special chews with omega fatty acids seems to have transformed Mimo. He feels much better and carries himself proudly now that he looks his best!

By the time of our Spring Gala, in March 2018, with special guest Dr. Jane Goodall, Mimo was ready, and was one of the most popular participants in the Home for Life® Dog Parade, a hallmark of our events. Mimo carried himself with such pride that night, and also happiness, knowing that he was Home for Life®. Mimo's senior years will be golden at Home for Life® where he has found restoration of his health, happiness and the loving care and place to belong that he sought and found in his long journey from the Mideast to the Midwest and Home for Life® in Star Prairie, Wisconsin.
