Jimmy and JohnJohn

Introducing Jimmy and JohnJohn, two German Shepherd pups, about 6 months old, small for their age, recently arrived at Home for Life. They were surrendered with their littermates to a local shelter but were very thin and unsocialized. The shelter placed them in foster homes and supported the fosters with many resources including training and behavioral coaching.

The Most Powerful Thing You CAN do!

This year, find out how far your heart can reach! As a care-for-life sanctuary, Home for Life® is uniquely positioned to help some of the most vulnerable dogs and cats from around the world. Responsive to both local animals in need as well as international rescue cases, Home for Life® is able to care for cats and dogs who are out of options, providing a service like no other organization.

Rusty

Rusty's story has really touched the hearts of animal lovers far and wide. He is representative of the types of cats and dogs who become invisible in rescue, and the very types of animals Home for Life was created to help, and to provide a lifesaving service like no comparable organization.

Dandelion Season arrives at last! Spring photos from Mark Luinenburg

In this album are some of our favorites from Photographer Mark Luinenburg's visit to Home for Life® at the end of May when the dandelions were in full bloom; his photos at the sanctuary during dandelion season have become an annual tradition. With so much that doesn't make sense and the world so turbulent, it's reassuring to know that every year, there will be spring sunshine, cheery yellow flowers, and happy animals at Home for Life®.

Maxmillion

Maxmillion, also affectionately called Max for short, is a distinguished smooth coat dachshund and a senior, neutered male. Max came to Home for Life from the Anti Cruelty Society in Chicago, Illinois.

Retirement Plans

These can be powerful tools for endowing a charitable legacy to home for life while avoiding heavy estate and income taxes.

Many individuals have accumulated substantial sums in tax-deferred retirement accounts, which include profit-sharing plans, IRAs 401(k)s and 403(b)s. These accounts are popular because the contributions are made with pretax dollars in the assets in the account grow tax-deferred. However, funds withdrawn from these accounts are usually taxed at both high income and estate tax rates.
