This fall, Home for Life® welcomed Minneapolis pet photographer Jessica Nelson for two days of photographing the dogs, cats, birds and tortoise for the latest sponsor photos. Home for Life' s® sponsor program, the backbone of support for the sanctuary, allows donors to have a special bond with the animal of their choice, and we spoil our sponsors with beautiful portraits of their sponsored cat or dog taken by photographers like Jess, who donate their time and talent to help Home for Life®.
Our fall mailing features the heartbreaking story of Raha who survived an unimaginable act of cruelty when firecrackers were put inside his mouth, his mouth taped shut and the firecrackers lit. Although Raha, whose name means peaceful and free in Persian, survived the assault, his face was terribly disfigured. Why do the nicest animals always seem to be the victims of such hostility and cruelty?
Longtime friend and photographer Mark Luinenburg was out to Home for Life® late in October for the annual fall photos session at the sanctuary.
Give to Max, the statewide day of generosity across Minnesota is around the corner Thursday, November 16, 2017.
Home for Life® has appreciated all the support we have received over the years on Give to the Max day, but last year and continuing this year, there have been some changes, out of our control, that we believe our donors should be aware of.
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jane Goodall as the special guest and keynote speaker of Home for Life's Spring Gala, the Fancy Feast. Mark your calendar as this event will sell out quickly! What a wonderful day for Home for Life's Best Pool Party of the Summer! How fortunate we were to have perfect weather in such a lovely setting-with all the havoc from the hurricanes,to realize how lucky we were to enjoy the beautiful day with our friends and family made the event seem even more special.
Home for Life was honored to be the featured charity for the 2017 Cat Video Festival at CHS Field, St Paul MN August 8th.
Raha, our new dog from Vafa Animal Shelter, who survived having firecrackers taped in his mouth, has pretty much monopolized our social media recently, and rightfully so! But we have a lot of news to share, and we want to start with one of our Texas connections, the Australian Cattle dog Outlaw, who came to Home for Life near death, blind, diabetic and suffering from EPI (endoctrine pancreatic disorder) on Labor Day 2016, just about a year ago. He originally came from Mesquite Texas, a suburb of Dallas. FYI Dallas is about 250 miles north of Houston - about the distance of Madison Wisconsin to the Twin Cities, Minneapolis-St Paul, Minnesota.
